Midway through Cowboy Carter, her eighth and most recent studio album, released this past spring, a voice makes the project’s mission statement plain over blaring alarms and a thunderous beat—declaring the concept of genre to be a sense of confinement for those artists whose creativity is too wide-ranging to fit in a neat box. All before Beyoncé herself saunters in comparing herself to Thanos, the Marvel villain known for seeking precious stones of mystical power to claim as his own and assemble into one unified superpower.

There may not be an accompanying music video, but the lyrics conjure a potent visual: Beyoncé, armed with a bedazzled gauntlet, breaking down every stultifying wall, label, or box the industry ever tried to put her in across her 30-year career.

It’s a theme that applies to much of what Beyoncé has been up to for the past decade or so, especially in the last couple of years: a mission of reclamation, recentering Blackness in spaces where our influence has since been de-emphasized, whether in rodeo, on the great American plains, or on sweaty ballroom dance floors.

MTV announced the four social categories and their nominees for its 2024 Video Music Awards.

Voting for the categories will be hosted on MTV’s Instagram Story.

The best trending video category “celebrates the artist’s videos and/or songs inspired fandoms to generate tremendous content related to the video and/or song.” Nominees include Beyoncé, Camila Cabello ft. Playboi Carti, Chappell Roan, Charli xcx, Megan Thee Stallion ft. Yuki Chiba and Tinashe. Fans can start voting on Sept. 2 at 11 a.m. ET with voting ending on Sept. 3 at 11 a.m. ET.

Another category fans can vote on is the show’s most iconic performance in years past. Performances include the memorable kiss that took place onstage during Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Madonna and Missy Elliot’s mash-up performance of “Like a Virgin” and “Hollywood”; Beyoncé’s pregnancy reveal after performing “Love on Top”; and Swift’s first VMAs performance with “You Belong With Me.” Voting begins Sept. 10 at 11 a.m. ET and concludes Sept. 11 at 11 a.m. ET.

The VMAs will return to New York and will take place at Long Island’s UBS Arena on Sept. 11 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

Beyoncé doesn’t give her music to just anyone.

But the pop supernova made an exception for Zoë Kravitz, who skillfully deploys a fan-favorite “Renaissance” track during the bloody finale of her provocative new thriller “Blink Twice.”

The film follows a social climber named Frida (Naomi Ackie), who takes an impromptu vacation with billionaire Slater King (Channing Tatum) and his hard-partying posse. But their exotic island paradise gradually turns into a cult-like nightmare, as Frida discovers that Slater and his male cohorts have been drugging and assaulting the women in the group to assert their dominance.

When the women wake up to the men's abuse, they kill them off one by one. And at the end of the film, Frida teams up with new friend Sarah (Adria Arjona) to take revenge on Slater. Armed with knives, they stride into his palatial compound, soundtracked by the woozy opening thrums of Beyoncé’s “I’m That Girl.”

Frida and Slater tussle on the floor, knocking over candles and burning the mansion to the ground. But rather than let him go up in flames, Frida saves the corrupt tech CEO, and with the help of some memory-wiping substances, blackmails him for his fortune. And in the film's final scene, she hosts a swanky gala of her own.

The hypnotic “I’m That Girl,” with its rousing declaration of “ain’t stopping me,” was perfect for the movie’s empowering climax.

The Trump campaign does not have the freedom to use Beyoncé's "Freedom."

Former President Donald Trump's team has taken down a video featuring the singer's song after her record label and music publisher reportedly threatened to send a cease-and-desist letter, Rolling Stone reported on Wednesday.

The video featured the Lemonade track playing as Trump walked off a plane in Michigan. Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung posted the video on Twitter on Tuesday with the caption "Touchdown in Michigan!! @realDonaldTrump." The tweet has since been deleted.

The 2016 song has become Vice President and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris' unofficial presidential campaign anthem with her running mate Tim Walz, and Beyoncé's team previously gave Harris' camp permission to use it. Harris has used the song since beginning her presidential campaign earlier this summer, walking up to the podium while "Freedom" played in her first appearance after President Joe Biden's endorsement, and as recently as Monday in a new ad also featuring Jeffrey Wright's narration.

Beyoncé's "Freedom" has also been played throughout the ongoing Democratic National Convention, currently taking place in Chicago.

Representatives for Trump's campaign and Beyoncé did not immediately respond to Entertainment Weekly's request for comment.

Zach Bryan and Beyoncé are the leading nominees for the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards, with 19 and 17 nods, respectively.

Hosted by Shania Twain, the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards will air live Thursday, Sept. 26, at 8 p.m. ET/PT across NBC and Peacock from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville.

The show bills itself as “an award show for the people and by the people.” Winners are chosen entirely by the fans. Voting begins now and runs through Friday, Aug. 23, at 11:59 p.m. ET. Fans can vote online at VotePCCA.com. Votes cast on Turbo Tuesday, Aug. 20, from midnight to 11:59 p.m. ET, will count twice, equaling a maximum of two votes per day, per category. MTV has revealed the nominees for this year's Video Music Awards.

Beyoncé hasn't released a music video since 2021 but earned a song of the year nomination for "Texas Hold 'Em" from "Cowboy Carter." She's up against Jack Harlow, Kendrick Lamar, Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift and Teddy Swims.

The VMAs will air live from New York at 7 p.m. Sept. 10.

Vice President Kamala Harris made a big entrance during her first official visit to her campaign headquarters on Monday evening, walking out to Beyoncé’s song “Freedom.”

A source close to Harris told CNN that her team got approval from Beyoncé’s representatives to use the song throughout her presidential campaign.

Beyoncé, who is known for maintaining strict clearance guidelines around her music, gave quick approval to Harris’ campaign when they sought permission to use “Freedom” on Monday — just hours before she walked out to the song, the source added.

While Beyoncé has not officially endorsed Harris in the day since President Joe Biden announced he would not seek a second term, granting her permission to use “Freedom” as a campaign song indicates that Harris has the superstar’s support.

Neither the Harris campaign nor a representative for Beyoncé responded to CNN’s requests for comment.

Blue Ivy Carter took home the 2024 BET YoungStars award and though the win was not televised, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter made sure to congratulate eldest her daughter on another big win.

The award show, dubbed culture's biggest night, was held Sunday at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. And Queen Bey and her 12-year-old daughter with hip-hop mogul, Jay-Z, were both nominated for awards. However, the Carters were not in attendance.

Blue Ivy was nominated for the YoungStars Award, which honors young entertainers who have had an impact in television, film, music or sports. Other nominees included Akira Akbar, Demi Singleton, Heiress Diana Harris, JaBria McCullum, Jalyn Hall, Leah Jeffries and 5-year-old rapper Van Van, who put on a stellar performance during the show.

Not all of the winners were broadcast during the show, and the telecast did not show the winner for this category. However, after the award show aired, BET shared the news. And mother Bey and her Parkwood Entertainment company shared the news on Instagram, congratulating the young superstar.

The post read, "congratulations to Blue Ivy Carter on winning the 2024 BET Youngstars Award!"

When Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em” hit the top spot on Billboard’s Hot country songs chart, she became the first Black woman to achieve the feat in the chart’s 80-year history. The tune blending elements of country, Western music, pop and soul reigned supreme for 10 weeks as her Cowboy Carter album emerged as a cultural piece of art that sparked think pieces about Black artists reclaiming the genres they created to social media essays about Queen Bey’s next-level greatness and virtuosity.

“Texas Hold ‘Em” eventually dipped to No. 2, only to be supplanted by a new artist with a connection to Beyoncé: her two-time Cowboy Carter collaborator Shaboozey. The 29-year-old’s anthemic blend of country and rap on “A Bar Song (Typsy),” released two weeks after Cowboy Carter, danced to the top of the charts. And, for the first time in Billboard history, two consecutive Black artists held the No. 1 spot.

Now, Shaboozey has a Top 5 album on the pop charts with his third project, Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going, and he is a shoo-in best new artist Grammy contender. Part of his success can be attributed to “the Bey-effect.” Other breakthrough newcomers featured on her historic album — including Brittney Spencer, Tiera Kennedy, Tanner Adell, Reyna Roberts and Willie Jones — have also benefited, from earning first-ever placements on the Billboard charts to soaring streaming numbers and an expanded social media presence.

“When you are breaking down barriers, not everyone is ready and open for a shift. But when I see Shaboozey tearing the charts up and all the beautiful female country singers flying to new heights, inspiring the world, that is exactly what motivates me,” Beyoncé tells The Hollywood Reporter in a statement.

Producer Ian Fitchuk talked to Vulture about working with Beyonce on a song for Kacey Musgraves, as well as on "Cowboy Carter".

It is funny to hear you say you don’t quite consider yourself a country person, because when Cowboy Carter came out and I was looking through the credits, your name jumped out as one of the few Nashville people who worked on that record. How did that come together?

When we started working on star-crossed, I signed a new publishing deal with Sony. I had the crazy idea of, What if we got Beyoncé on a song? It turns out I was able to get that music to her. She really reacted to star-crossed, before the record was done, and sent a beautiful email to Kacey. For a while there, we were going back and forth, and there was a song called “good wife” that it looked for a minute like Beyoncé was going to do a verse on it. In the end, it didn’t work out.

But a couple of years later, I got a call from my publisher saying Beyoncé is working on a new record. I don’t know if it was even described to me as a country record. They were like, “We’re very interested in sending Ink and Dave Hamelin and Dixson to Nashville to try to work on some songs for Beyoncé. Would you be interested in writing some songs with them? And they’d be interested in having Kacey come too.” So myself, Kacey, and the three of them spent a week in Nashville writing songs. There were not a lot of parameters given. I think we did hear “16 Carriages,” but they were like, “Don’t try to do that.”

Nickelodeon has revealed a star-studded list of nominees for its annual Kids’ Choice Awards. Leading the pack with six noms is Taylor Swift, followed by Olivia Rodrigo, Miley Cyrus and Beyoncé, with four noms each.

Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2024 will premiere live from their undersea home of Bikini Bottom on Saturday, July 13, at 8 p.m. (ET/PT). The awards also will simulcast across Nickelodeon, TeenNick, Nicktoons, the Nick Jr. channel, TVLand, CMT and MTV2.

Fans in the U.S. can cast their votes across 33 categories on the official Kids’ Choice Awards website, KidsChoiceAwards.com. International markets will also open voting, including additional regional categories.

Miley Cyrus has given fans a glimpse into her relationship with Beyoncé and how the II ladies worked on their chart-topping duet.

The "Flowers" singer covers the latest issue of W magazine, The Pop Issue, where she opened up more about her friendship with Beyoncé and collaborating on their hit song "II Most Wanted" on Beyoncé's album "Cowboy Carter."

"I wrote that song, like, two and a half years ago. My mom would always go, 'I love that song so much.' So when Beyoncé reached out to me about music, I thought of it right away because it really encompasses our relationship," Cyrus told the magazine.

"I told her, 'We don’t have to get ­country; we are country. We’ve been country. You know, between you being from Texas and me being from Tennessee, so much of us is going to be in this song,'" Cyrus said. "Getting to write a song, not just sing, for Beyoncé was a dream come true."

Cyrus, who called Beyoncé a "big role model" in 2006, explained that she now has a genuine friendship with Queen Bey.

"Sometimes I forget to talk about things that are a ­normal part of my day-to-day, like texting with Beyoncé" Cyrus said. "I think it’s a really cute part of our relationship, because over the past couple of years I’ve really locked down on my privacy and on what I share with the public. She’s the same way. Part of our relationship is the safety between us."

Tina Knowles talked to TODAY.com about her daughter's natural hair and more.

There’s been a lot of conversation since Beyoncé posted a video of her 'Cécred Sunday' haircare routine. When she showed of her long, healthy natural hair, it sparked commentary about when, where and how she chooses to show her natural hair. Why do you think people are so fixated on that?

Beyoncé wears wigs a lot, right? She's been open and vocal about that. You know, in the first of couple years (of her performing), she didn’t want anything in her hair — no kind of extensions, nothing. And then she learned that with all the curling, sweating and all of that, it was important to wear wigs sometimes to protect her real hair and also easily transition between looks.

A lot of times, we are seeing her hair, but people assume it's a wig. So that's always started a lot of chatter, like, "Oh, she doesn't have any hair. She’s baldheaded."

What was really important to us is that Cécred, as a brand, is bigger than her. We didn’t want her to take away the attention of how great the products were. Yes, people buy them because Beyoncé uses them. But she wanted people to really get to know and understand the breadth of the brand before she shared how she herself uses it.

She actually shot that video when we did the launch in February, but she just did not want it out, because she didn't want herself to be the focus. And the more they said, "Oh she won’t show us her hair," the more she didn’t want to show it. So we had a hard time getting her to finally put that video out.

Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Beyoncé have scored the most nominations for the upcoming 2024 BET Awards, which is scheduled to air on the network on June 30 at 8:00 p.m. ET.

The full list of all the nominations was revealed on Thursday (May 16), with Beyonce up for five awards. Voting for the BET Awards' 2024 Viewer's Choice Award begins June 6 and ends June 30.
