Beyonce Gets a Pixie Cut!

Klaudia//August 9, 2013

Beyonce is redefining the "Pixie Dream Girl" stereotype. On Wednesday, Aug. 7, the 31-year-old "Grown Woman" singer made headlines when she ditched her long locks in favor of a blonde pixie 'do. No explanation was offered along with the Instagram pictures of her new hair, but her colorist, Rita Hazan, tells Us Weekly it's a sign of Queen Bey's self-confidence.

"I was shocked. I think she was just feeling empowered, like a strong woman, and she said she's been feeling it for a long time," Hazan says of the star's stunning cropped coif. "She didn't want to hide behind her hair in real life."

In fact, Beyonce's long extensions have become a big part of her onstage persona. But Hazan, for one, loves the new look. "I'm so happy because the extensions give women the wrong expectation of what their hair should look like -- it's great for onstage, but everyday women shouldn't have or want to have five pounds of hair on their head," she tells Us. "This hair is more natural, more realistic."

It's also much lighter -- in more ways than one. Before Beyonce debuted the 'do, her hair "was a honey blonde, a darker blonde," Hazan explains. " it took some time to do -- like four hours -- because we wanted to keep her natural color at the root so it would grow out well. We made it a champagne blonde -- it's very old Hollywood, like a Marilyn Monroe blonde."

"This shade shows women of every color that they can wear this shade. Just make sure that it's healthy -- healthy hair will keep the color longer," she adds. "My personal thought is that every woman can be blonde as long as it's the right shade of blonde for your skin color. And Beyonce pulls it off!"

Beyonce.com: Undressing the Tourbook

Klaudia//August 6, 2013
The creative approach to the tourbook for the "MRS CARTER WORLD TOUR" was to artistically illustrate all of the different visual aspects of the tour through multi-media collage and image manipulation.

We wanted the fans to have the opportunity to bring a part of the tour home with them. By using collage, we've created pages filled with images that were inspired either by certain songs or by Mrs. Carter herself. We've also explored image manipulation, whether it be from solarizing an image, or from layering and stacking images.

Order your own copy now from the Beyoncé Online Store and go to Beyonce.com to see the inspirations behind some of the pictures.

Almost all scans of the tourbook have been added to our gallery in high quality. Be sure to also check out one new picture from the photoshoot.

Bey Inspired: Hannah

Klaudia//July 28, 2013

This is my girl Hannah!

I met Hannah when she was seven years old. Her unbelievable strength and positive energy instantly drew me in. Hannah has osteogenesis imperfecta, which is more commonly known as brittle bones. Although she faces many challenges every day, her spirit cannot be broken.

Now at 13, she is still a fighter, determined to enjoy life. She loves music, people, and dancing, and boy does she have moves!

She is a true inspiration!

Beyoncé‬ Pays Tribute to Motor City

Klaudia//July 22, 2013
Beyoncé has joined fellow diva Aretha Franklin in offering the city of Detroit a vote of confidence as it faces bankruptcy reorganization.

During her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour stop on Saturday night at The Palace of Auburn Hills in the Detroit suburbs, Beyoncé -- fresh from the Trayvon Martin rally with husband Jay Z earlier that day in New York City -- added Sam Cooke's "A Chance is Gonna Come" to her set, dedicating it to the city.

The performance was accompanied by a video montage (watch it, above) that included photos of key Detroit sites as well as notable personalities such as boxer Joe Louis and music icons like Bob Seger, Kid Rock, Eminem, the White Stripes, Berry Gordy, Jr., and a full array of Motown legends -- including even non-Detroiters like the Jackson 5 and Lionel Richie. The clip concluded with a declaration that "Nothing Stops Detroit!"

Beyoncé did not mention the bankruptcy proceeding, which was announced two days prior, directly at the show. She turned down a request to comment, with a spokesperson telling Billboard that, "This was a unique tribute to the history of an incredible city and a celebration of the strong spirit of its people."

Beyoncé and Jay-Z Step Out in Support of Trayvon Martin

Klaudia//July 21, 2013
On Saturday, Beyoncé and Jay-Z attended a rally for Trayvon Martin in NYC, meeting up with the shooting victim's parents and showing their support for the family. The couple kept a low profile at the event, which Al Sharpton addressed when he spoke, saying, "Jay-Z and Beyoncé said they didn't want to speak, and they didn't come for a photo op." He did reference the couple's stance, though, adding, "Jay-Z told me, 'I'm a father. Beyoncé is a mother.' We all feel the pain and apprehension — the laws must protect everybody, or it doesn't protect anybody."

During the rally, Beyoncé posted a picture of bracelets in support of Martin with the caption "#actnow4Trayvon" and later took to her website to share a photo of her and Jay-Z with Martin's family. Her appearance at the rally isn't the first time the star spoke out on Martin's behalf, though — on Saturday, hours after the verdict was announced, Beyoncé held a moment of silence for Martin at her concert in Nashville, following it up with the chorus from "I Will Always Love You."

August 28, 1955 - Emmett Till, 14, Money, Mississippi
February 26, 2012 - Trayvon Martin, 17, Sanford, Florida

We are still struggling with the issue of inequality and the lack of value for a black man’s life. Trayvon Martin’s most basic civil right, the right to live, was violated.

We have made so much progress and cannot allow hatred and racism to divide us. When we all join together, people of all races, we have the power to change the world we live in.

We must fight for Trayvon the same way the generation before us fought for Emmett Till.

I joined over 570,000 people in signing the petition below and hopefully you will, too.
